Sue Foell

North Carolina artist, Sue Foell, was born in 1956 in Erie, Pennsylvania. Growing up near Lake Erie gave her the magical opportunity of spending a great deal of her childhood outdoors with her six siblings. It was her father that offered Foell her first exposure to art at an early age. She worked as a graphic artist for 14 years after college and practiced art forms like pottery and photography before picking up a paint brush in 2002 and falling in love with that medium. While portraits are her main focus of painting, Foell also excels at painting still life and landscapes. She has received numerous awards at various local and national shows over the years, including the Salon International Juried Exhibitions, the Oil Painters of America’s National Juried Exhibitions, and the Oil Painters of America’s Eastern Regional Exhibitions. In 2019, Foell achieved Signature Membership Status in the Oil Painters of America for her outstanding accomplishments in representational oil painting.
